Manita Re-designed

Some Zora remake heeeeereeeeee
Okay, this is a really freaking old character who deserves to get a remake because I remember I liked her a lot as a kid. I’ve forgotten a lot about her story, but of what I can remember: that story won’t work any more. So I’ve given her a new one.
This character was previously named Mana (based of the Swedish word for Jellyfish “Manet”) but I decided to change it to something that sounds more like a name. Because, as many probably know “mana” is the common name for magical energy and so. I just don’t feel like the name’s as good nay more for her.
You can find her old design in this picture. She’s the blue female with jellyfish-hair.


She has a lot to grow, in both character and story. But for now this will be her reference sheet and bio. I hope you like her!

Backstory:

Manita’s mother came from a tribe of sea Zoras, while her father came from Zora’s Domain. They had two eggs and both successfully hatched into healthy baby Zoras. Manita always had a hotter temper than her sibling and she tended to get in more fights with the other younglings. She grew a bit calmer as a teenager and began studying potion brewing, medicine, and plant life. She was a pretty big success and the planned to become one of the many Zora healers in Zora’s Domain. But her temper soon returned and she begun causing trouble in Zora’s Domain again. She also began experimenting with different kinds of poisons because she had grown a large interest in it since she discovered her ability to sting with her “hair”, and this of course raised some worries from the other Zoras. Then there were reports that Manita had thrown away unsuccessful potions in the water, and that was highly unacceptable. Queen Rutella herself summoned Manita to the royal chamber and demanded her to stop with the potions. Manita listened to her and kept a low profile for a while. But soon she returned to her brewing and the other Zoras got tired of her. But Zoras are a pretty peaceful people so they didn’t want to throw her out of the waters completely. Instead she was only forbidden to enter Zora’s Domain and they took her brewing tools away from her. Manita was enraged by this and attacked two guards with her stringing “hair”. When they managed to kick her out she fled to Lake Hylia and hid there in a hidden underwater cave. It was calm for a while and it seemed like the problems with the notorious brewer were over. Her family was of course saddened by this but sadly they couldn’t do much. They haven’t been able to find where Manita is but they are aware that she’s alive, or at least what they’ve heard.

But Manita wasn’t done. She held a huge grudge towards the Zoras in Zora’s Domain and grew hostile and had a hard time trusting anyone. She only had some very few close friends after the incident. But those friends were also known to be trouble makers and don’t visit her often. To keep herself some company she begun taking care of eggs she found in Lake Hylia. Mostly fish eggs but every now and then she finds a sea serpent egg too. She also began brewing again after finding new tools to use. She still makes poison but she’s more careful with where she discards the leftovers and failed potions. After some time she tried to use her potions on the fry she takes care off. She gave them nutritious blendings and cleaning potions that rids them of bacteria and parasites, and the experiment were successful so she continued giving them the potions to make sure they stayed healthy until she had to release them into the enormous lake. She takes care of them like if they were her own young and she acts very protective over them too.


Personality:
• She usually acts hostile towards anyone she doesn’t know.
• She feels no remorse for hurting those who dares to venture into her cave, or those who are against her or those who tries to capture/attack her.
• When she’s with people she trusts and views as friends she becomes a different person. She acts calmer and much kinder.
• She has a bit of an unstable temper and can explode without much provoking.
• She’s very independent and takes care of herself. She hunts her food, cures herself and defends her cave from animals and people.
• She’s pretty intelligent and doesn’t get fooled easily.
• She has somehow lost her sense of fear. This is both a good and a bad thing. It’s good because it gives her strength to fight if she can’t escape. But it puts her in danger if she fights something that is too strong for her.

Likes:

• When it’s really quiet.
• Her cave.
• Collecting glass containers (like bottles and such)
• Smoked meat or fish.

Dislikes:

• Pretty much all Zoras in Zora’s Domain.
• When people comes too close to her cave.
• The fact she’s all alone. She may be independent and doing fine taking care of herself, but some times it simply gets too lonely and cold in that cave.

Weapons:

• She can make her jelly fish-like “hair” to sting at will. If she gets the chance she’ll whip her hair at her opponent to sting them.
• She owns some daggers made out of rock hard coral.

Magic:

None

Other abilities:
• She’s really good at brewing potions. She brews poisoned potions to use as weapons and she brews potions that help wounds heal faster.

Weaknesses:

• Heat and drought.
• Too cold water and ice.
• She is mortal like any other normal Zora.
• If her “hair” gets damaged it hurts an incredibly much more than if se would get damaged somewhere else on her body.
• If you begin telling her all the wrong things she has done and how she’ll never be allowed to come back to Zora’s Domain she might very well flip and that will, of course, make her pretty much unable to concentrate at what she’s doing. She’ll just mindlessly, and pretty much aimlessly, attack.

Relations:

Her brother, Manoa – They had a pretty close relationship. But as they grew older they grew away from each other because of their different interests and only met at home. She kind of misses her brother but she has begun to not think much about any of her family member since she arrived to Lake Hylia.

Other facts:

• The fuchsia pink above her eyes an on her nails is make up.
• The hole on the sides of her head works like ears.
• The white balls on her head are pearl-like growths.
